STARKVILLE, Miss. – Head coach Mike Staudenmaier and assistant coaches Jessie Buehler, Katie Buehler and Tressa Robins of Walla Walla have been named as this year’s NFCA NWAACC National Coaching Staff of the Year, the Association announced on Monday.
The 2011 East Region champions went 34-10-1 this season and claimed their first region title since 2002. In the league tournament, the Warriors went 1-2 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the championship bracket.
Walla Walla was led this season by 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA NWACC All-Americans outfielder Alexis Bobadilla and utility player Dara Kosanke. Bobadilla became a two-time All-American this year by hitting 11 home runs and driving in 50 runs, while Kosanke hit .533 at the dish and went 20-5 in the circle with 144 strikeouts.
This is the second NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year award for Staudenmaier and his staff, having previously earned the award in 2000.
