LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For her outstanding efforts both at the plate and in the circle this past weekend, Washington University – St. Louis pitcher/infielder Brooke Hofer has been selected as the Louisville Slugger NFCA Division III National Player of the Week.
The freshman pitched her way to a 1-0 record with a 2.42 ERA over 8.2 innings of work. At the plate, Hofer hit .643 with six RBIs as Washington University opened the season with four wins at the Rhodes College Lynx Classic in Memphis, Tenn. She recorded multi-hit efforts in the first four contests of her collegiate career, going 2-for-5 with a career-high four RBIs on Sunday in a 13-7 win at Rhodes and followed that up on the same day with a 3-for-3 performance while getting on base four times during a 7-2 win over Transylvania.
Hofer was also named by the University Athletic Association as its UAA Athlete of the Week.
Next up for Washington University – St. Louis is a trip to Conway, Ark., to square off with both Hendrix College and Austin College.
