STARKVILLE, Miss. – Senior pitcher Danielle Lawrie of Washington has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for games played between May 3 and May 10, 2010. This marks the second Louisville Slugger honor of the season for Lawrie and the third of her career.

Lawrie was a power both on the mound and at the plate for Washington last week, as she helped lead the top-ranked Huskies to a sweep over No. 15 Stanford. On the mound, Lawrie went 3-0, allowing just one run off of six hits and three walks while striking out 34. At the dish, she was 4-for-9 with two runs, four RBIs and a home run.

The Langley, B.C., native started off the weekend by tossing her fourth no-hitter of the season by allowing just one walk while fanning 11 in the 8-0 five-inning win. On Saturday, Lawrie helped her team from the other side of the play by blasting a walk-off home run, the first of her career, to give Washington the 2-1 victory. Lawrie wrapped things up on Sunday by allowing just one hit and striking out 10, as the Huskies won 1-0 in eight.

Lawrie finished the week with three 10-plus strikeout performances, two shutouts, a 0.35 ERA, a .444 batting average for herself and a 0.94 average for her opponents. The two shutouts against Stanford brings her total to 19 on the season, just two shy of her own single-season school record.

Washington will close out the 2010 regular-season this weekend by traveling to Arizona State for a three game Pac-10 set. The Huskies are currently 43-5 overall and have already clinched their first conference title since 2000 with a 15-3 record in league play.
