LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Deven DuCharme and Virginia Wesleyan’s Kristina Karagiorgis have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

 

DuCharme, a senior outfielder from Hudson, Wis., hit .524 (11-for-21) with eight runs, two doubles, a triple, five homers, three walks and 10 runs batted in over six games. She had multi-hit and multi-RBI performances in four games with hits in all six games. DuCharme had two homers in the first of two games against Wisconsin-Stevens Point and compiled a 1.429 slugging percentage and a .583 on-base percentage for the week.

Karagiorgis, a senior right-hander from Ashburn, Va., went 3-0 for the week with a 0.00 earned-run average, three hits and 27 strikeouts in 16 innings. She collected 10 strikeouts over six innings in a combination no-hitter of Emory & Henry, fanned nine over six in a solo two-hitter of Guilford and allowed one hit and fanned eight over four innings in a combo two-hitter of Sweet Briar. Karagiorgis helped herself at the plate with a .643 average (9-for-14) with seven runs scored and four RBI.

Hamline sophomore pitcher Casey Anderson recorded four wins in a span of 27 hours, with an 1.30 ERA, five earned runs, eight walks and 18 strikeouts in 32 innings. … Wisconsin-Eau Claire sophomore right-hander Lauren Blasczyk was 3-0 for the week with a 0.00 ERA, three shutouts, 11 hits, no walks and 15 strikeouts in 21 innings. ...Washington (Md.)
