In the battle between California teams, UCLA would get on the board first in the bottom of the third on a single by Natasha Watley, a sac bunt from Caitlyn Benyi, and a stand up double to deep left from Tairia Mims that scored one. The defending champs would tie it up in the top of the fifth on a single from Haley Woods and a Kaleo Eldredge double to left that scored Woods. Chelsea Spencer safely bunted to put runners at second and third and Kristen Morley would load the bases on a fielder's choice that left the throw to first late. Vicky Galindo singled to third on a dropped ball by the third baseman that put the Golden Bears up by one and left the bases still loaded. Lindsay James would sacrifice bunt, but the runner would be thrown out at third leaving the bases (still) loaded. Cal would leave three on base when Courtney Scott grounded out to third. Cal would pad its lead in the sixth with a leadoff home run from Veronica Nelson. In the bottom of the seventh, though, UCLA would let Cal know they wouldn't go down easily when Tairia Mims hit a two-run bomb (that hit the NFCA hospitality tent in left center field) to tie the game and send it in to extra innings. No one would cross the plate until the top of the 10th inning. Courtney Scott singled to left, Nelson was intentionally walked, Woods successfully laid down the sac bunt to put runners at second and third, and Eldredge reached second on two bad throws that scored one. The next batter, Spencer, would pad the Golden Bears' lead by two for the second time in the game with a liner to left that scored one and put runners a the corners. Kristen Morley would walk to load the bases followed by a Vicky Galindo slapper to third with an overthrow to first that scored two to put the Golden Bears up 7-3.

California will play Texas at 7 p.m. CDT on Friday. UCLA will play Louisiana at 3 p.m. CDT on Saturday.
