With both teams facing elimination or playing Texas tomorrow, Washington and UCLA came out playing to win. The final game of the day remained scoreless until the bottom of the third when leadoff batter Monique Mejia singled to left field. Natasha Watley also singled putting runners at first and second. Caitlin Benyi singled, and on a fielder's choice, Mejia was out at third. Watley scored from second on a Tairia Mims base hit to center. In the fifth, Washington's Aimee Minor hit a solo round tripper to tie it up. Mims came through again in the sixth on a solo home run to put the Bruins up 2-1. UCLA would hold the lead in the seventh to eliminate Washington.
Washington was eliminated. UCLA will play Texas at 2:30 p.m. CDT tomorrow.
