Michele Smith tossed a five-hitter and WPSL Gold used a four-run sixth inning to break open a close game and defeat WPSL All-Stars 5-0 Saturday during the latest stop in the Tour of Fastpitch Champions at Rockford, Ill. A crowd of 1,472 was on hand as Smith struck out seven and walked only one.

In the nightcap, Amy Kyler retired all 21 batters to record the first perfect game of the tour as WPSL All-Stars defeated the Chicago White Sox All-Stars 7-0. Kyler, who also pitched a no-hitter against USA Blue earlier in the tour, recorded 14 strikeouts. Kim Maher helped power the offense with a three-run homer in the fifth inning.

Next stop on the Tour of Fastpitch Champions is July 21 in Madison, Wis. as WPSL Gold takes on Canada. Game time is 2 p.m. (CDT) on the campus of the University of Wisconsin.
