Lisa Fernandez' grand slam home run in the bottom of the third snapped a 1-1 tie and sparked a seven-run innning as WPSL Gold defeated the WPSL All-Stars 14-1 Sunday at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio. The contest was televised live on ESPN.

After an RBI-double by Jennifer McFalls tied the game, Sheila Douty walked to load the bases. Fernandez followed with her grand slam to left-center field, her first home run of the tour.

After scoring seven runs in the third inning, Kelly Kretschman's two-run single and Teri Klement-Goldberg's two-run double keyed a six-run fourth inning for Gold.

Fernandez tossed a two-hitter as Gold rebounded from Saturday's doubleheader loss to the All-Stars and snapped a three-game losing streak.

The two teams resume the tour this Thursday at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. Game time is 7 p.m.
