LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tuckahoe’s (Eastchester, N.Y.) Jessica Berger, Conemaugh Valley’s (Johnstown, Pa.) Melanie Lint, Columbia’s (Lake City, Fla.) Kamdyn Kvistad, Dodge City’s (Kan.) Jessica Olivarez and Glencoe’s (Hillsboro, Ore.) Isabel Womack were selected MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week winners for their outstanding play during the week of March 27-April 2.

East Region
Berger was a perfect 6-for-6 at the dish with a triple, two home runs, eight RBI and seven runs scored. She added three walks for a 1.000 on-base percentage and slugged 2.333. Against Clarkstown North, she was 3-for-3, launched both long balls, drove in seven runs and scored three times. Berger added a triple, RBI and four runs scored in a 19-9 win over Edgemont.

North Region
Highlighted by a no-hitter, Lint went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 21 strikeouts to zero walks in two starts last week. In her second start of the week, she fanned 10 as she no hit Portage in a 9-0 victory. That was preceded by a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in a 11-0 triumph over Blacklick Valley. The senior also went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and two runs against the Vikings.  

South Region
Kvistad was not retired in 12 plate appearances last week, going 11-for-11 with a walk, five doubles, home run, five RBI and six runs scored. She posted a pair of 4-for-4 outings to start the week. Against Vanguard, Kvistad doubled three times and scored three times, followed by a double, homer, four RBI and three runs scored versus Middleburg. Defensively, the senior catcher/third baseman was perfect in 15 chances, posting a 1.000 field percentage.

South Central Region
Olivarez hit .700 (7-for-10) with two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and seven runs scored. She slugged 1.500 and posted a .750 on-base percentage. Olivarez homered, knocked in two and scored twice in an 8-5 win over Thomas More Prep-Marian. A game later, she went deep, with three RBI and two runs in game one against South. Olivarez capped off the twinbill against South with a double, three RBI and three runs scored.

West Region
Womack was 4-0 with four shutouts, a no-hitter and 49 strikeouts in 25 innings. She struck out eight and walked two in a four-inning no-hitter versus The Dalles. The junior fanned a season-high 17 in a one-hit blanking of Roosevelt. She struck out 12 in her other two starts against Lake Oswego (2H, 1 BB) and David Douglas (4 H, 0 BB). Surrendering just seven hits, Womack held her opposition to a .085 batting average.

The 2016-17 MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week are announced on NFCA.orgNFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of the five regions. During the fall campaign, one player is selected each week.
