MaxPreps / NFCA National High School Player of the Week, MaxPreps / NFCA High School Player of the Week, Jasmine Francik, Whitney Foster, Kira Day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Melbourne’s (Fla.) Jasmine Francik,  White’s (Dallas, Texas) Whitney Foster and Cactus Shadows’ (Cave Creek, Ariz.) Kira Day were named 2023 MaxPreps / NFCA National High School Players of the Week. The trio garnered recognition for games played March 6-12.

South Region

Francik twirled four complete game shutouts, highlighted by a perfect game against Centennial. She struck out 73 batters, walked five and surrendered six hits over 29 innings of work. In the 6-0 win over Centennial, Francik collected 18 punchouts and retired all 21 batters she faced. The junior righty opened the week with a two-hit, 20-strikeout performance in an eight-inning win over Viera. She added 16 and 19 strikeouts in one- and three-hit outings versus Bayside and Dwyer. 

South Central Region

Foster batted .600 (9-for-15) and drove in 17 runs, powering the Longhorns to four wins last week. Eight of her nine hits went for extra bases with three doubles, three triples, and two home runs. Foster slugged 1.600 and scored six times. She registered a season-high eight RBI with a pair of doubles and one triple against Hillcrest. The sophomore launched her other long ball, drove in five more runs and scored twice against Kimball. Francik made four appearance in the circle, including a complete-game win over Molina in which she allowed an earned run on three hits with 14 strikeouts and two walks.

West Region

Day hit .889 (8-for-9) with three home runs 12 RBI and eight runs scored. She also tripled, drew three walks and did not strike out over 12 plate appearances, posting .917 on-base and 2.111 slugging percentages. Day homered twice, drove in seven runs and scored three times in a 15-12 triumph over Verrado. She added three hits, two RBI and two runs scored against Ironwood. Day other long ball with three more RBI and three runs scored came in a win over Mountain Pointe.
