LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Fairfield’s Makenna Steele, South Stanly’s Mary Ryan Hinson, Southwestern Heights’ Roxy Stone and Oaks Christian’s Rylee McCoy were named 2023 MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week. The quartet garnered recognition for games played March 20-26.

North Region

Steele started the season a perfect 7-for-7 with two doubles, a triple, home run and six RBI. She reached base safely in all eight plate appearances and slugged 2.000. She opened the 2023 campaign 4-for-4, with three RBI and was a home run short of the cycle in a 7-5 win over Eklhart. Steele added a 3-for-3 outing against Bremen in which she drove in three more runs and scored four times, while falling a triple short of the cycle.

South Region

Hinson was 10-for-10 and reached base safely in all 12 plate appearances. She doubled twice, homered, scored eight runs and added five RBI. In a pair of wins over South Stanly, she was a combined 8-for-8 with a double, home run, four RBI and five runs scored. Hinson drove in all four runs and scored four times in the first meeting against the Comets. The junior crossed the dish three times and drew a pair of walks versus Central Davidson.

South Central Region

Stone opened her 2023 campaign a perfect 9-for-9 with six RBI, five runs scored and three stolen bases as her squad split a doubleheader against Hugoton. She was 5-for-5, doubled twice, drove in four and added three runs in game two. In the season opener, Stone recorded a double, two RBI and two runs scored.

West Region

McCoy powered Oaks Christian to three wins last week, going 12-for-12 at the plate with six doubles, three home runs, 18 RBI and nine runs scored. She drew a pair of walks, reaching base in all 14 plate appearances and slugging 2.250. McCoy set personal single-game career marks when she finished 6-for-6 with three doubles, and 10 RBI versus Calbasas. She also added six RBI (second highest career total) against Arroyo Grande. In that contest, the junior doubled and homered twice, while also registered four hits and four runs scored.

Winners are announced on NFCA.orgNFCA.org every Monday during the spring campaign with a player from each of five separate MaxPreps’ high school regions being selected.
