LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Masuk’s (Conn.) Natalie Lieto, Danville’s (Ill.) KaLeah Bellik, West Limestone’s (Ala.) Addie Wallace, McCracken County’s (Ky.) Ally Hutchins and Peninsula’s (Wash.) Malia Coit were named 2023 MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week. The quintet garnered recognition for games played May 1-7.
East Region
Over three games, Lieto clubbed five home runs, registered 15 RBI and slugged monstrous 3.000. She batted .875 (7-for-8), added a triple, scored nine runs and reached base at a .917 clip. Lieto drove in a season-high eight runs, homered twice and was a double shy of the cycle against Bunnell. The junior added two more long balls, three RBI and two runs scored versus Joel Barlow. Lieto capped off the week with four RBI, three runs scored and a home run against Waterford.
North Region
Bellik was a perfect 6-for-6 with three doubles, three home runs in a pair of contests last week. She slugged an astronomical 3.000, scored five runs and also drew a pair of walks. Belik was 3-for-3 with four RBI in both contests. The sophomore infielder slugged two homers against Manual, while she recorded two doubles, a long ball and three runs scored versus Champaign Central.
South Region
Wallace batted .875 (7-for-8) with two doubles, four home runs, 11 RBI and 10 runs scored in three victories last week. She slugged 2.625 and recorded a .909 on-base percentage. Wallace registered her first two multi-homer contests of the season against Randolph School and Westminster Christian. In the first contest, the junior knocked in a season-best six runs to go along with a double and four runs scored. She also scored four times and drove in four in the latter matchup.
South Central Region
Leading the Mustangs to four wins last week, Hutchins was 8-for-10 (.800) with three doubles, a triple, three home runs, 12 RBI and eight runs scored. The senior left the yard in three of the four games and finished with a 2.200 slugging percentage. Hutchins posted a homer and week-best four RBI versus Paducah Tilghman, while homering and driving in three RBI against Community Christian (CCHS) and Daviess County. Against CCHS, she was a single short of the cycle and scored three times.
West Region
Coit went a perfect 9-for-9 at the plate with two doubles, three long balls, two walks, nine RBI and 11 runs scored. She recorded three hits and three RBI in each contest last week. Coit also homered in every game, while scoring four runs and doubling against North Thurston and Timberline, respectively.
