LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Emma Smailys of Nebraska City (Neb.) High School was named MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week. Smailys is being recognized for her outstanding performance during the week of Sept. 20-26.
Smailys hit .750 (9-for-12) with three doubles, a triple, 12 RBI and six runs scored, leading the Pioneers to three victories last week. The senior outfielder opened the week with a 6-for-6, seven RBI performance in a win over Cass. Smailys doubled twice, tripled and scored four runs. She went 2-for-3 with three RBI versus Plattsmouth, and doubled with two RBI against Duchesne/Roncalli. For the week, Smailys slugged 1.166 and recorded a .769 on-base percentage.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week is announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the fall season. During the spring campaign, a player from each of five separate high school regions is selected.
