LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tuckahoe’s (N.Y.) Cassie McGrath, Menominee Indian’s (Wis.) Kelsey Corn, Sissonville’s (W.Va.) Alexee Haynes, Pangburn’s (Ark.) Tylar Vernon and Manti’s (Utah) Amanda Naylor have been named MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week for contests played April 18-24.

East Region – Cassie McGrath (Tuckahoe HS – Eastchester, N.Y.)
Hitting .846 with five home runs and 14 RBI and going 4-0 with 55 strikeouts, McGrath guided Tuckahoe to a 4-0 week. She knocked in four runs in three of the four games and scored at least two runs each contest with a season-high four versus Hamilton. Against the Raiders, she went 5-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI, while tossing one of her three one-hit shutouts. She also recorded shutouts against Riverside (1 H, 12 K) and Early College (5 IP, 1 H, 13 K). In addition, she fanned 19 and allowed an unearned run on two hits in a 6-1 victory over Yonkers Montessori Academy. For the week, she surrendered five hits, posted a 0.00 ERA and walked three.

North Region – Kelsey Corn (Menominee Indian HS – Keshena, Wisc.)
Corn was a perfect 12-for-12 at the plate with three home runs, 14 RBI, eight runs scored and a 2.083 slugging percentage. Homering in each contest, she recorded five, four and three hits, respectively in three victories. Corn knocked in a season-high six runs, while doubling, tripling and leaving the yard versus Tri-County. She scored a season-best four runs with four hits and three RBI versus Bowler and added five RBI against Wild Rose. In the circle, she went 2-0 against Wild Rose and Tri-County. Against Wild Rose, She struck out 12 and surrendered two unearned runs on two hits.

South Region – Alexee Haynes (Sissonville HS – Charleston, W.Va.)  
Haynes clocked in with an .846 (11-for-13) batting average with 13 RBI and 14 runs scored. Her nine extra-base hits, including five doubles, led to a 2.000 slugging percentage that powered her squad to five wins last week. The senior knocked in a season-high seven, courtesy of a 4-for-4 outing with two double and a homer against Cross Lanes Christian. Haynes went 3-for-4 with a a season-best four runs scores to go along with two doubles a triple and two RBI versus Capital. She also chipped in with her arm, tossing six scoreless innings in two appearances, including a five-strikeout effort versus Nitro.

South Central Region – Tylar Vernon (Pangburn (Ark.) HS)
Behind a .857 batting average with three doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI, Vernon accounted for 33 Pangburn runs. She capped off her incredible week with eight RBI and two runs in a 11-2 win over Walnut Ridge. Vernon went 4-for-4 with two long balls, four RBI and four runs scored in game two against Sloan-Hendrix. In game one, she homered, knocked in three and scored three times. She also scored 12 times, walked three and registered a .889 on-base percentage.

West Region – Amanda Naylor (Manti (Utah) HS)  
Naylor drove in 13 runs and slugged 1.727 helping the Templars to a 4-0 week. The senior’s week was highlighted by her showing against South Summit in which she went 2–for-4 with a double, two home runs and six RBI. She followed that with a 3-for-3 outing with three doubles and five RBI in a 14-3 rout of South Sever. For the week, she hit .818 (9-for-11) with four doubles, two homers and four runs scored.
