LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There was plenty of movement in the second USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 poll of the 2020 season, but the Louisville Male Bulldogs remain the top dog in the rankings.
Louisville Male, which went 39-0 and finished last year ranked first in the poll, doesn’t open its season until March 21, and a number of other listed teams have yet to start their 2020 campaigns.
Dave Kops Tournament of Champions titlist Los Alamitos (10-0), a perennial staple in the rankings, joins the poll this week after going 5-0 at that event in Bullhead, Ariz., as does unbeaten newcomer Trenton (9-0) from Florida and Texas’ Barbers Hill (18-2), whose two losses this season have both been by one run. Norco (11-1) dropped from third to 12th this week after suffering its first loss, but regrouping quickly to win its next two.
Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.), Forney (Texas) and Hartsville (S.C.) all lost multiple games last week and dropped out of the rankings.
State rankings submitted by NFCA member coaches are used to compile the USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule.
