LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior Annie Oakley of Strasburg (Colo.) High School was selected this week’s MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week for contests played Oct. 19-25.

Garnering the final weekly accolade of the fall, Oakley helped the Indians capture the 3A state championship and finish 2015 with a perfect 23-0 record. In three games over the weekend at Aurora Sports Park, Oakley hit .700 (7-10) with four doubles, five RBI and three runs scored. The senior catcher capped off her high school career, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in the title game against Eaton. Her two-run single, which doubled the Indians’ lead to 7-3 in the sixth, proved to be the difference as Strasburg held on for a 7-5 triumph and its third state title in the last four seasons.

Oakley knocked in two runs and went 3-for-3 in a 7-2 state quarterfinal victory over the Academy and added two doubles, a RBI and a run during an 11-0 win against Brush in the semifinals.

The award returns in late February to honor the outstanding play for the 2016 spring season.
