Kansas City, Mo. - Ohio Christian's Lexi King and Oregon Tech's Sarah Abramson were named NAIA Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played March 21-27.
King led the Trailblazers' offensively during a 5-1 week. The freshman hit .526 with three home runs, 15 RBI and slugged 1.211. Her solo blast in game one against University of Northwestern Ohio was the only offense in a 1-0 victory. King registered consecutive four-RBI contests in game two against the Racers and a game one victory over IU Southeast. She launched her third long ball of the week and drove in five in game two at Brescia.
Earning her second straight accolade, Abrahamson twirled a pair of no-hitters, one of which was a perfect game, in a four-game Cascade Collegiate Conference sweep at Corban. The senior right hander opened the series with a nine-strikeout perfecto against the Warriors. Abrahamson follwed the next day with her no-hitter, fanning six and walking two. She finished 3-0 on the week, which also included a win at No. 8 Southern Oregon.
Student-athletes were nominated for their performances and were selected out of a pool of conference and Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) award winners.
