Kansas City, Mo. - Cottey College's Karina Ramirez and Oklahoma City's Shelbey Cornelson were named NAIA Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 28 through March 6.

In six games, Ramirezwas instrumental in the Comets going 6-0 on the week, including doubleheader sweeps against Williams Baptist University, Crowley's Ridge and Missouri Baptist University.  Rodriguez recorded a .550 batting average with 11 hits, 15 RBI, seven stolen bases and scored eight runs.  

Cornelson posted a 5-0 mark with a 1.48 ERA and struck out 38 in 28.1 innings of work. Cornelson has turned in a 10-0 record, 1.54 ERA, two saves, seven complete games and 91 strikeouts in 63.2 innings thrown this season. She ranks second in wins and strikeouts, fourth in saves and fifth in appearances (14) within the NAIA in 2022.

Student-athletes were nominated for their performances and were selected out of a pool of conference and Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) award winners.
