Kansas City, Mo. - Marian's Shelby Stotts and Science & Arts' (Okla.) Emily Cerny were named NAIA Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played April 18-24.
Shelbie Stotts became the new home-run record holder at Marian with her 17th blast of the year, one of six on the week. The senior slugged 1.310 with 16 RBI over the course of eight games last week. Stotts broke the Marian single-season long ball record on April 23 at Taylor, going yard twice in the game-two win over the Trojans. Her six home runs last week elevated her to the NAIA leader, while the 16 RBI moved her to No. 3 nationally. Stotts also scored 16 runs and was perfect in the field.
Cerny grabbed her second NAIA Pitcher of the Week honor of 2022 behind her 15th career no-hitter, one of four strong outings last week. The senior recorded 26 strikeouts, allowed four hits and no runs over 16 innings of work.
Student-athletes were nominated for their performances and were selected out of a pool of conference and Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) award winners.
