LOUISVILLE, Ky. – LSU’s Amanda Sanchez and Arizona’ Taylor McQuillinwere named Louisville/Slugger NFCA Division I National Player and Pitcher of the Week of the Week, respectively, for games played March 25-31.

Sanchez keyed the seventh-ranked Tigers to a 3-1 week, which included a pair of SEC wins over then-No. 16 South Carolina. Over four games, she hit .700 (7-for-10) with a double, three home runs, 10 RBI and a 1.700 slugging percentage. The West Covina, Calif. native clubbed two of those round trippers, including a grand slam, and drove in five runs in the series-clinching win over the Gamecocks. In game one, Sanchez was 2-for-3 and broke a 4-4 deadlock with a RBI single in the fifth inning. She also homered and recorded two RBI in game two.

McQuillin shut down the nation’s top scoring offense, tossing a pair of two-hit shutouts against then-No. 17 Arizona State. Over 12 innings of work, she struck out 15, walked three and held Sun Devil batters to a .100 batting average. McQuillin’s masterful performance came against an ASU offense that led NCAA Division I in runs per game (9.12), home runs (64) and slugging percentage (.696). Combined with another two-hit shutout by her teammate, the Wildcats posted their first shutout sweep of the Sun Devils in program history.
