LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The top seven remained intact for a second-straight week in the 2022 USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. Oklahoma (15-0) was idle and continued as the unanimous No. 1.
Of the undefeated teams in action last week, No. 2 Alabama was the only program to survive as both No. 3 Florida State and No. 4 Florida suffered their first defeats of 2022. The Crimson Tide (20-0) opened the week with a 7-0 triumph over UAB followed four wins, two each over RV Texas and Miami, as part of their T-Mobile Crimson Classic.
The third-ranked Seminoles (19-1) knocked off Florida A&M and Oakland in non-conference action before opening Atlantic Coast Conference play against Pitt at home. FSU blanked the Panthers in the first two contests, but dropped the finale, 7-5. The Gators (21-1) rebounded from a week-opening loss to Southern Miss at home by sweeping the Bubly Invitational.
The Bruins (17-3) registered five wins at the Judi Garman Classic and Huskies (15-5) went 4-1 at the UNLV’s Boyd Gaming Classic. The sixth-ranked Hokies (14-3) swept their ACC opener at then-No. 14 Clemson, which was preceded by a non-conference road defeat at then-RV Charlotte.
With Oklahoma State dropping to No. 10, Arizona and Kentucky each moved up one spot. The Cowgirls (12-5) split with RV Stanford and defeated DePaul at home. Arizona posted a 5-0 mark hosting the Wildcat Invitational, while UK (16-2) split with No. 19 Michigan as part of the Wildcats’ John Cropp Classic.
The previously-mentioned 49ers followed up their win over the Hokies with four more against Villanova, Boston College and Maryland and entered the rankings at No. 25.
