LOUISVILLE, Ky. –Jacksonville’s Hannah Roberts and South Alabama’s Olivia Lackie were selected DI Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week, respectively. The duo were honored for their play during the week of March 1-7.
Roberts had a big weekend at the plate as the Dolphins went 5-0 last weekend. Over four games, she hit .727 (8-for-11) with two doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI and four runs scored. Roberts slugged 2.000 and owned a .727 on-base percentage. Highlighting her performance was a three-run homer and a grand slam in the first innings against Florida A&M. Roberts, a Jacksonville, Fla., native, also homered in wins over Georgia State and USC Upstate.
Lackie made three starts last week, which included a complete-game shutout of then-No. 3 Alabama. She finished 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of work. She fanned 10 batters twice and held her opponents to a .176 batting average. Leading South Alabama to its first-ever win over the Crimson Tide, Lackie allowed just three hits, struck out six and did not walk a batter. She went the distance in a tough 2-1 loss to Kent State, striking out 10 and allowing just an earned run. Against Northern Iowa, the Walker, La., native fanned 10 and did not issue a walk over five innings of work.
