LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oklahoma continued to roll, while Alabama, Florida State and Florida knocked off Top 25 foes and remained undefeated in this week’s 2022 USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The unanimous No. 1 Sooners (10-0) sit atop the Association’s poll for the 16thstraight week.
The Sooners posted a second straight 5-0 weekend, rolling to five run-rule victories in Houston, outscoring their opposition 55-1. Additionally, Jocelyn Alo launched five home runs and tied the NCAA career home run record of 95, held by former Sooner Lauren Chamberlain, against Texas State on Sunday.
The Crimson Tide (9-0) remained in the No. 2 spot after a 5-0 weekend hosting the Bama Bash. Alabama pitchers tossed three shutouts, including a pair against then-No. 8 Virginia Tech in 1-0 and 2-0 victories.
The Seminoles (10-0) elevated to No. 3 after they came out of a top-25 heavy St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational with a 5-0 mark. FSU knocked off four top-20 opponents with triumphs over then-No. 3 UCLA (4-3 8 inn.), then-No. 9 Texas (9-2), then-No. 16 Michigan (2-1) and then-No. 24 UCF (8-0).
The Gators (10-0) remained at No. 4 with a 6-0 week, opening up at home in fine fashion with wins over Jacksonville (8-0), then-No. 14 Duke (9-3), Villanova (4-0), Louisville (9-1) and Florida A&M (8-0).
Washington moved to No. 5 after a 4-1 showing at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational. The Huskies (9-1) collected triumphs over then-No. 18 Tennessee, then-No 20 LSU, Texas Tech and then-No. 7 Oklahoma State (7-6), with their only defeat at the hands of then-No. 15 Clemson.
Virginia Tech (8-2), Arizona (7-2), Oregon (8-1) and Arkansas (7-3) round out the top 10.
No. 18 Northwestern, No. 21 Auburn and No. 25 USF joined the top 25 this week after going a combined 10-3 at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational. The Wildcats (7-2) earned ranked wins over UCLA and Clemson with their lone blemish against Oklahoma State. The Tigers (9-1) topped Texas, USF, Texas Tech and Wisconsin and dropped their first game of the season to UCLA. The Bulls trumped RV Notre Dame, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin.
James Madison (3-1), UCF (6-5) and Wichita State (6-3) all dropped out.
