LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lubbock Christian’s Kasey Flores and Rollins’ Emily MacMullen were named 2023 Division II Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week, respectively. The duo was recognized for their outstanding performances March 20-26.

Over a pair of three-game Lone Star Conference series sweeps, Flores batted . 476 with a double, five home runs and 11 RBI. She slugged 1.238 and registered three multi-RBI games. Flores notched a four-RBI game with a pair of homers in game two at Western New Mexico. She left the yard and tallied a pair of three-RBI contests in games one and three against St. Edward’s. She was three-for-four in the series opener and 2-for-3 in the finale.

MacMullen went 3-0 with 0.00 ERA, a save and 23 strikeouts during a 5-0 week away from home for the Tars. The sophomore hurler twirled a five-hit shutout with seven punchouts and no walks in game two of a mid-week tilt against Flagler. In the opener, she tossed two scoreless innings with two punchouts to earn the save. In Rollins’ three-game Sunshine State Conference sweep at Barry, MacMullen did not allow an earned run over 14.2 innings of work. She went the distance in game on with eight punchouts and managed 6.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts in game two. 

The Division II weekly awards are voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Committee.
