LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has revealed the 2022 NFCA Division II All-Region teams. This year’s squads are comprised of 206 student-athletes from 105 programs.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted on the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2022 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
Augustana (Central), Carson-Newman (Southeast) and Indianapolis (Midwest) led the way with five representatives apiece. The trio each had three student-athletes earn first-team nods.
Seven programs – Adelphi (East), Bridgeport (East), University of Alabama in Huntsville (South), Cal State San Marcos (West), Grand Valley State (Midwest), Colorado Christian (South Central) and Sonoma State (West) – took home four plaudits apiece. The Panthers, Purple Knights, Blazers and Cougars captured three first-team honors, while the Lakers and Cougars earned two.
In the Atlantic Region, Kutztown, West Chester, West Virginia Wesleyan and Bloomsburg led the way with three honorees apiece. The Golden Rams topped the region with three first-team plaudits with the Bobcats capturing two and the Golden Bears one.
The Lone Star Conference was top of the board with 19 All-Region recognitions, followed by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and California Collegiate Athletic Association with 18 and 17, respectively. The Great Lakes Valley Conference, Gulf South Conference and South Atlantic Conference each had 14 representatives.
Conference players and pitchers of the year from member institutions (must be nominated by member head coach and receive votes) are added to the second team if they were not already voted to an All-Region squad. Additionally, in some instances, limited regional nominations prevented a position from being filled.
The 2022 NFCA Division II All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 25.
