LOUISVILLE, Ky. –Maryville’s Alyssa Callans and Minnesota Duluth’s Jordyn Thomas were named the Wilson / NFCA Pitcher and Louisville Slugger / NFCA Player of the Week, respectively. They were recognized for their outstanding performances in contests played during the week of March 1-7.

Callans, who hails from Joliet, Ill., was masterful for the Saints in the circle as she did not allow a hit in two starts against Wisconsin-Parkside. The graduate hurler no-hit the Rangers twice, including a perfect game in her second start. In the series opener, Callans fanned 10 and walked three in a 2-0 shutout. One day later, she struck out 14 and did not allow a ball out of the infield in the rubber game. She recorded at least two punchouts in each of the first six innings, including the side in the sixth

Thomas powered UMD to four wins, two each against Northwest Missouri State and Pittsburg State, last weekend. She hit .750 (9-for-12) with five home runs, 10 RBI and six runs scored. Thomas slugged 2.000, drew three walks and reached base at a .800 clip. The Hermantown, Minn. native registered four multi-RBI and three multi-hit contests, including a pair of two-homer games. In the first game at Pittsburg State, Thomas launched her first two long balls of the season and finished 4-for-4. The rematch against the Gorillas saw the senior first baseman leave the yard two more times and drive in three runs. Thomas also homered and recorded three RBI in the first matchup against the Bearcats.
