LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Concordia Irvine and Lincoln Memorial elevated into the top 10 in this week’s 2021 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. Southern Arkansas (2-0), which continues to be idle since last playing on Jan. 30, holds the top spot, while No. 2 North Georgia picked up four first-place votes after two more wins last weekend.
The seventh-ranked Eagles (4-1) used two neutral-site wins over then-No. 10 Oklahoma Christian in a three-game series in Las Vegas. CUI opened up with 9-4 and 7-4 victories, before OC (8-2) captured the series finale, 2-1.
No. 8 Lincoln Memorial extended its unbeaten start to 11 games after two doubleheader sweeps last week. The Railsplitters (11-0) topped UVA Wise (10-2, 3-0) in a South Atlantic Conference twinbill at home and earned a road sweep at King (3-1, 7-6).
No. 3 Augustana opened its 2021 campaign with a 4-2 trip against Lone Star Conference (LSC) programs in Texas. The Vikings split with then-No. 7 Texas A&M University-Commerce (1-2, 6-1), defeated then-No. 4 UT Tyler (7-5) and took two from St. Mary’s (12-4, 13-4).
No. 9 Valdosta State swept Mississippi College in a three-game Gulf South Conference series (3-1, 8-5, 9-1) to improve to 8-1.
West Texas A&M became the seventh team from the LSC to be ranked, entering the poll tied for 17th with Indianapolis.
The 2021 NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the eight NCAA regions. Records reflect games played through February 28. In 2021, universities that are not competing will not be eligible for the poll.
