LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  Minnesota Duluth’s Jessica Bren and Grand Valley State’s Allison Lipovsky were named the Louisville/Slugger NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively. The duo earned the honor for their outstanding play for the week of March 5-11.

Bren was on fire during her squad’s spring break trip to Florida. The freshman catcher hit .667 with 12 hits, a triple, seven home runs, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored. She posted a .684 on-base percentage and slugged 1.944. Bren has reached base safely in every game this season and ranks fourth in the NCAA Division II with 11 long balls.

She hit the go-ahead two-run home run against Missouri-St. Louis and homered twice against Saint Anselm and Georgian Court, knocking in four and collegiate-best five runs, respectively. The Victoria, Minn. native also swiped three bases versus Mercyhurst and scored multiple runs in four of the six games, including three against Georgian Court.

Lipovsky was stellar for the Lakers in her four starts over spring break, which included a 14-strikeout perfect game against Notre Dame (Ohio). She posted a 4-0 mark with a 0.25 ERA, three shutouts and 47 strikeouts to one walk in 28 innings of work. Lipovsky scattered nine hits and allowed just one run as she held her opposition to a .097 batting average.

In addition to her perfect game, she twirled a two-hit complete against then-No. 14 Southern Indiana with 12 strikeouts. Lipovsky, a junior from Harrison, Mich, also fanned 12 in a four-hit blanking of Illinois-Springfield and nine in a three-hit shutout of Cedarville.
