LOUISVILLE, Ky. — National champion Texas Lutheran picked up three more wins over the past week to continue its run as the unanimous No. 1 in the NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Since the (11-0) Bulldogs won their first NCAA Division III title last May they have won 17 straight games and 30 of their last 31, dating back to last April.

Texas Lutheran is one of 11 teams receiving votes that will compete at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic later this week in Tucson, Ariz. The first five teams in the poll will all be there, as will No. 8 DePauw (4-0), No. 12 Central (2-0), 14th-ranked St. Thomas (1-1), 19th-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor (9-2), and receiving votes schools Saint Benedict (5-3) and Emory (3-3).

The first six teams in the poll — Texas Lutheran, Christopher Newport, Linfield, East Texas Baptist, Illinois Wesleyan and Virginia Wesleyan — have combined to lose just one game so far this season, while winning 50. The first five squads are unbeaten.

Tenth-ranked The College of New Jersey (1-0), No. 11 Kean (8-0) and 13th-ranked Ferrum (8-0) are the three other undefeated teams in the poll.

Wartburg (5-1) joined Ferrum as a newcomer to the rankings this week, while Lynchburg dropped out.

The NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll is selected by eight NCAA Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions. Current records are listed, with first-place votes in parentheses.
