COLUMBUS, Ga. – Indian River Community College, Jones College, Gulf Coast State College and Seminole State College remain undefeated after two days of the 2025 NFCA NJCAA Leadoff Classic hosted at the South Commons Complex.
Highlighting the action on day two was a no-hitter by Des Moines Area Community College’s Kierra Jungers, a seven-home run performance by Seminole State and multiple late-inning rallies.

Jungers fanned 10 batters and walked one in a six-inning 9-0 win against Southeastern Illinois. She opened the contest with a walk and went on to retire 15 straight batters until an error in the sixth. The win was the first of two for the Bears, who also topped Chipola College, 9-5 to improve to 3-1 in Columbus.
Seminole State’s 2-0 day two started off on fire. With the score tied 4-4 against Walters State Community College, the Raiders launched five home runs during a 12-run seventh to run away with a 16-4 win. After a leadoff single, four of the next five batters left the yard to make it 10-4 and the inning was capped off by Izzy LaRoche’s second dinger of the inning. Makayla Nieves homered three times and walked twice for the Raiders. They hit two more round trippers in a 9-1 triumph over Illinois Central.
Danville Area Community College sent the game into extras against Pearl River with a two-out run in the top of the seventh and went on to win 5-4 in the eighth courtesy of an RBI single by Kenley Van Bibber. In another crazy contest, Monroe rallied from an 8-3 deficit against Tallahassee State and forced extra innings with a four-run seventh. After the Eagles pushed three across in the top of the eighth, the Mustangs cut it to 11-10 and had the tying run on second before their rally fell short.
Monroe rebounded with its first two wins of the tournament, posting shutouts against Southeastern Illinois (12-0) and Roane State (1-0).
IRCC and Jones each won their final two games to finish the tournament 5-0. The Pioneers picked up their third run-rule win, 15-0 over Walters State and closed out by upending Johnson County, 5-2. The Bobcats knocked off Danville Area, 12-2, and Roane State, 10-3.
Gulf Coast State joined Seminole State at 4-0 following two big wins over Pellissippi State (16-5) and Roane State (9-0).
Patrick & Henry Community College swept a rematch of last year’s NJCAA DIII national title game, topping North Dakota State College of Science, 5-4 and 8-0 to improve to 3-1 this weekend.
Chipola, Walters State, Pearl River and Illinois Central also picked up wins on day two. It was the first of the tournament for Walters State and ICC. The Senators run-ruled Pearl River, 12-4 in six innings, while the Cougars upended Pellissippi State, 8-0 in five innings.
The tournament wraps up with seven games on Sunday, six at 10:00 a.m. and one more at 1:30 p.m.
