LOUISVILLE, Ky. -The NFCA NJCAA Leadoff Classic is back for the first time since 2019 and features a pair of 2022 national champions in the 2023edition of the event that will take place March 3-4, 2023, at the South Commons Complex in Columbus, Ga.

Two-time defending NJCAA DI champion Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) and the eight-time NJCAA DIII champion Rock Valley College (RVC) headline a field that includes a total of seven programs that have captured NJCAA titles.

FSW, which took home its first two national championships in 2021 and 2022, defends its 2019 Leadoff title. The Bucs have won 105 contests the past two seasons. Meanwhile, no NJCAA program has won more consecutive national titles than the Golden Eagles. Following its run in 2022, Rock Valley is competing as a Division II program for the first time in 2022-23.

Five other programs – Chipola College, Indiana River State College, Jones College, Illinois Central College and Wallace State Community College-Hanceville – have won NJCAA championships. Most recently, Chipola, a three-time Division I titlist, and Jones (Division II) earned national titles in 2019 and 2018, respectively.

Along with FSW and RVC, Des Moines Area Community College (DII), Illinois Central (DII), North Dakota State College of Science (DIII), San Jacinto College (DI), Triton College (DII) and Wallace State (DI) earned 2022 postseason bids.

Additionally, four teams – FSW (56-6), Wallace State (56-4), DMACC (52-5) and Triton (50-9) – posted 50-plus victories last season, while four more  - Rock Valley (48-11), Jones (44-12), Seminole State College of Florida (43-26) and San Jacinto (42-16) - reached the 40-win mark, and 17 of the 18 registered above-.500 winning percentages.

Each team in the field will play five games over two days with Sunday March 5 built in should there be inclement weather.
