CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Last year's three NJCAA national champions - Chipola College (DI), LSU Eunice (DII) and Rock Valley College (DIII) - are the favorites in the 2020 NJCAA Softball preseason rankings.
Chipola earned six of a possible seven first-place votes and 139 points. In 2019, the Indians posted a 52-5-1 record and captured the program's third NJCAA DI national title. Florida SouthWestern State comes in at No. 2 with 126 points and No. 3 Seminole State (Okla.) received the other first-place vote 113 votes. Tyler (111) and Salt Lake round out the top five.
LSU Eunice captured five first-place votes and 137 points, while No. 2 Des Moines Area received the final two first-place votes and 131 points. The Bengals, who compiled a 52-6 record and ended their season on a 17-game winning streak, won the 2019 NJCAA Division II title, their third national championship in the last four seasons and sixth overall.
Six-time defending NJCAA DIII national champions Rock Valley received five of the six first-place votes and 59 points. The Golden Eagles (57-13) took a different route in 2019, battling out of the loser’s bracket, and winning three games on the final day to secure their sixth title. National runner-up Herkimer gathered the other first-place nod and 54 points.
