LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The coaches from 2013 NJCAA Division III National Champion Herkimer County Community College have been selected as this year’s NFCA NJCAA Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year, the Association announced on Thursday.

Head coach P.J. Anadio and assistant coaches Dan Stalteri, Steve Speno and Stephen Sydoriw led the Generals to an impressive 43-2 overall record while picking up the program’s first national softball crown.

Herkimer registered an 11-1 record in conference play, secured the NJCAA DIII District A/(Region 3A) title and ended its championship campaign on an 18-game winning streak. HCCC’s two defeats during the year to Brookdale Community College (on March 19, 3-0) and SUNY-Delhi (on April 24, 10-9) came by a total of just four runs. During the NJCAA DIII National Tournament, Herkimer outscored its four opponents (Anne Arundel Community College, Rock Valley College, Dutchess Community College and Brookdale Community College) by a 35-10 overall count while posting a pair of run-rule triumphs.

Guiding the Generals on the field in 2013 were NFCA NJCAA Division III All-Americans, Toni Secreti (pitcher), Jessica Patterelli (infielder), Stephanie Siriano (outfielder) and Delaney Buckley (designated player). Secreti helped her team to its first national crown by topping NJCAA DIII with a 0.79 ERA and registering 16 wins from the circle.
