Eight programs descend on Syracuse, N.Y. for the NJCAA DIII Softball Championship, May 27-29 at Carrier Park Field of Dreams.
Six-time defending champion Rock Valley College enters as the field’s top seed. The Eagles (47-7), who captured the Region IV and Midwest District titles, will be seeking a historic seventh-straight national championship. They will face off against Rainy River, the champions of Region XII B. The Voyagers (18-12) knocked off Central Lakes College in the title game to earned their first trip to the national tournament since 2014.

Corning Community College, Herkimer and North Dakota State College of Science earned the No. 2, 3 and 4 seeds, respectively. The second-seeded Red Barons (34-1) captured their first Region III crown in 16 seasons and open with No. 7 Suffolk Community College. The Sharks (23-2) won the North Atlantic District and Region XV titles.
In the three-six matchup, No. 3 Herkimer, the 2013 national champions, takes on No. 6 College of DuPage. The Generals (22-4) are the Region III B titlists and are making their ninth straight national championship appearance. The sixth-seeded Chaps (18-17) earned an at-large berth after a runner-up finish in Region IV and were ranked sixth in the final NJCAA poll on May 10.
North Dakota SCS (30-21), which finished third in 2018, secured its second trip to the NJCAA Tournament in the last three years by sweeping through the Region XIII Tournament. Their opening round opponent will be No. 5 Rowan College South Jersey Gloucester. The Roadrunners (24-9) earned the other at-large selection.
In addition to NJCAA DIII Championship, the NJCAA DI and NJCAA DII tournaments are under way in Yuma, Ariz. and Oxford, Ala., respectively.
