LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Fresh off its eighth Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) softball championship, Mt. Hood Community College captured its third ATEC/NFCA NWAC National Coaching Staff of the Year honor in the last five seasons, the Association announced on Wednesday.
Led by head coach Brittany Hendrickson, assistant coaches Taylor Gould and Kayla Grahn, and volunteer assistants Sam Brandstetter, Hailey Davis and Rian Snowadski, the Saints went 49-7 this year, including back-to-back victories over Lower Columbia College in the championship on Sunday, which was a match of the tournament’s top two seeds.
Mt. Hood won four of its five games at the NWAC tournament, falling to Lower Columbia by one run, 5-4, on Saturday but rebounding to roll past Clackamas, 14-4, later that day to advance to the Sunday’s final. They won 16 of their final 17 games, and had three separate win streaks totaling at least nine games during the season.
Three Saints earned NFCA NWAC All-America honors last week — first baseman Chloe Mckenzie, third baseman Sadie Guyette and outfielder Serena Hattori. Earlier today, Guyette was crowned 2026 NFCA NWAC Player of the Year.
Hendrickson and her staff, who were the National Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2022 and 2024, when they previously won NWAC titles under her direction, will be recognized during the NFCA Awards Brunch on Dec. 12 at the 2026 NFCA Convention in Atlantic City.
The NFCA is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded awards program, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from podcasts to and extensive drills database, to in-person events and National Convention.
