LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Speakers are an important part of the NFCA National Convention, held Dec. 2-5, 2015 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. These segments are designed to allow attendees to learn from their peers and other professionals associated with the game of softball.

The Saturday morning and early afternoon lineup features a host of speakers. At 10:30 a.m., Columbia University assistant Emily Friedman, College of Charleston assistant Ashley Chastain and North Dakota State co-head coach Jamie Trachsel lend their knowledge in “Drills, Drills, Drills,” a session where these coaches share instructional ideas that can be implemented during practice.
Following lunch, attendees have an opportunity to take part in “Roundtable Topics,” in which they can soak up information in a smaller setting as they move from topic to topic.
Head coaches Courtney Deifel (Arkansas), Larissa Anderson (Hofstra) and Jen McIntyre (Connecticut) discuss making the transition from assistant to head coach. Georgia assistant Tony Baldwin, Notre Dame head coach Deanna Gumpf, Eastern Michigan Head Coach Melissa Gentile, Central Michigan assistant Joanna Lane and Northwood University head coach Meaggan Pettipiece share their thoughts on balancing life and work. Also, physical therapist Sheri Walters delves into arm care and injury prevention, while Mt. San Antonio College assistant and two-time Olympic gold medalist Crystl Bustos talks power hitting.
