LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  Miller Grove's (Ga.) Amiyah Morrison captured the first 2024 MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Fall Player of the Week award. The senior pitcher is being recognized for her outstanding play for the week of Aug. 19-25.

Morrison lifted Miller Grove to three victories last week as she did not allow a hit over 11 innings of work, while also batting .857 and scoring nine runs. Morrison struck out 29 of the 39 batters she faced, surrendered an unearned run and issued two walks. She fanned a week-high 12 batters (zero walks) against Redan. Morrison also struck out eight and nine batters against Salem and Arabia Mountain, respectively. At the plate, she was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and four runs scored versus Salem, while adding three RBI against Arabia Mountain and scoring three times versus Redan.

Position Summary

The assistant coach for softball is responsible for assisting the head softball coach in implementing and directing all phases of a competitive NCAA Division III Softball program. Responsibilities include recruiting, planning practices, coaching, scouting, scheduling, budgeting, team travel, and ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and University policies. Additional duties within the athletics department will be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience: Collegiate softball coaching and playing preferred. Pitching experience highly desirable.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Teamworks, Google Apps.
  • Licenses: Valid US driver’s license. CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required.
  • Communication: Intermediate reading, writing, and speaking ability.
  • Math: Basic arithmetic and measurement proficiency.

  • Commitment to a small, rural liberal arts college environment

Work occurs both indoors and outdoors in varied temperatures. Coaches are expected to handle physical and administrative responsibilities, maintain communication, travel for recruiting, and collaborate with departments such as Admissions during the recruiting process.
