LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Pataula Charter Academy’s (Ga.) Sophie Conner captured the latest MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Fall Player of the Week award, announced Tuesday due to the Labor Day holiday. She is being recognized for her outstanding play for the week of Aug. 25-31.
Conner was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate for the week and also pitched two hitless innings in the Panthers’ 25-3 three-inning rout of Calhoun County last Tuesday.
Four of her five hits were for extra bases. She hit for the cycle and collected eight RBI, and also fanned six in the circle in the victory over Calhoun, and then homered in her lone at-bat in a 16-1 three-inning loss to Baconton Charter last Thursday. For the two contests, the senior totaled five runs and nine RBI, while slugging 2.800.
