LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Gering High School’s (Neb.) Gabby Moreno was named 2024 MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Fall Player of the Week. She is being recognized for her outstanding play for the week of Sept. 23-29.
Moreno hit .917 (11-for-12) and homered in five consecutive games and recorded nine total extra-base hits to power the Bulldogs to a 4-1 week. Prior to this week’s power surge, Moreno left the yard just once in the first 13 games of the season. The senior doubled and tripled twice (2.667 SLG), drove in 12 runs, scored 15 times, drew five walks (.941 OBP) and did not strike out in 17 plate appearances. Moreno matched a season-best with four runs scored and was a double short of the cycle in wins over North Platte and Wayne. She was 3-for-3 versus North Platte and Polk County, notching three RBI and three runs scored in the latter triumph. Against Gothenburg, Moreno also registered a double, three RBI and three runs.
