LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Melbourne Central Catholic’s (Fla.) Lilly Rollinger, Hendrickson’s (Texas) Kara Luongo and Maranatha’s (Calif.) Campbell Taylor captured the first MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Spring Player of the Week awards of the 2026 season, the Association announced on Monday. They are being recognized for their outstanding play for the week of Feb. 16-22.
Rollinger garnered South Region accolades after helping propel the Hustlers to a 2-0 start to the season with two appearances, including a 12-strikeout, five-hitter in their opener against Merritt Island last Tuesday. The junior walked just one over seven innings in the circle, and then came in for one out and the save in Friday’s 4-3 triumph over Sebastian River.
In the South Central, Luongo won four games and fanned 45 batters over 23 innings this past week. The junior allowed just six hits, two runs (none earned) and three walks as the Hawks improved to 9-1 for the season. She recorded 12 or more strikeouts in three of her four appearances, including 14 versus Chaparral last Tuesday.
Taylor was the top performer in the West, going 6-for-6 with seven runs scored, two doubles, a triple, home run, two walks and six RBI as the Minutemen won their first two contests by a 38-0 margin. The freshman evenly split her hits among the two games, and had three of her four extra-base hits and four RBI in the opener against San Gabriel. She also saw time in the circle, tossing three innings and allowing no hits while fanning nine in game one, and yielding just one hit while striking out 10 versus Glendale.
