LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Another undefeated week kept California’s Norco the clear No. 1 team in the USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 poll.

The (23-0) Cougars dispatched Santiago, which had won five straight, 6-1, on Tuesday and rolled past King, 10-2, last Thursday. Over its last 10 games, Norco has outscored its opponents 51-8.

The Highlanders have now won 34 of their last 35 contests, with the lone loss during that stretch being an 1-0 loss to Mater Dei in the CIF Southern Section playoffs to close the 2016 season.

Every team in the top seven went undefeated last week, with No. 2 Pinnacle (28-1), No. 6 Coral Springs (21-1) and No. 7 La Cueva (19-0) joining Norco in each winning twice. Fourth-ranked Bishop O’Connell (16-0), meanwhile, was idle.

Four teams — Woodinville (11-0), Bentonville (22-1), South Granville (15-0) and Hendrickson (24-1) — all moved up a poll-best two places apiece while each going 2-0.

Unbeaten Lakewood (11-0), Oak Park-River Forest (9-0) and Penn (9-0), plus one-loss North Augusta (18-1-1) lead six newcomers to the rankings. Two-loss Florida schools Oakleaf (22-2) and West Orange (20-2) are the others.

State rankings submitted by NFCA member coaches are used to compile the USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25.
