OKLAHOMA CITY – The Amateur Softball Association (ASA)/USA Softball announced an addition of athletes to the list of those who have received an invitation to the 2017 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) and Junior Women’s National Team (JWNT) Selection Camps.  Slated to be held at Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla., the JWNT Selection Camp will be held December 31-January 1, 2017 while the WNT Selection Camp will be held January 1-5, 2017.  Additional athletes may be invited to the USA Softball WNT and JWNT Selection Camps at a later date.

During the selection process, athletes will participate in position drills as well as simulated games and be evaluated by the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC).  For the WNT, athletes who make the 2017 USA Softball WNT roster will be competing at a Pan American Games/World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Championship Qualifier in Florida, where the U.S. will look to qualify for the 2018 WBSC Women’s World Championship to be held in Chiba, Japan and the 2019 Pan American Games to be held in Lima, Peru.  Click here to see the most up-to-date list of athletes who have accepted an invitation to attend the 2017 WNT Selection CampClick here to see the most up-to-date list of athletes who have accepted an invitation to attend the 2017 WNT Selection Camp.  For the JWNT, athletes who make the 2017 USA Softball JWNT roster will be competing at the 2017 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Junior Women’s World Championship, which will be held July 24-30 in Clearwater, Fla.  Click here to see the most up-to-date list of athletes who have accepted an invitation to attend the 2017 JWNT Selection Camp.Click here to see the most up-to-date list of athletes who have accepted an invitation to attend the 2017 JWNT Selection Camp.   The complete 2017 schedule for the WNT and JWNT, including exhibition games, will be announced at a later date.

ASA/USA Softball will also hold an open tryout opportunity for players hoping to make the 2017 USA Softball JWNT.  Held December 30 at Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla., eligible athletes have from now through December 1 to sign up through USASoftball.comUSASoftball.com for the open tryout, which will involve a series of softball related skill drills for each position, hitting and bunting.  The top athletes from the open tryout will be selected to participate at the USA Softball JWNT Selection Camp along with the list of invited athletes.  At the last USA Softball JWNT open tryout in 2015, four athletes from the open tryout made the 2015 USA Softball JWNT roster.
