LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Texas’ first loss of the season loosened the Longhorns’ grip on No. 1, but they were able to hold onto the top spot in week’s NFCA/GoRout Division Top 25 Coaches Poll. Texas, with 15 first-place votes, was one of four programs to earn at least one first-place vote.

The Longhorns (15-1) countered their loss to then-No. 18 Stanford at the Hillenbrand Invitational with an eight-inning win over host and No. 13 Arizona as well as big wins over Colorado State (twice) and UC Davis by a combined score of 40-4.

No. 2 Oklahoma (9), No. 3 Florida (6) and new-No. 5 LSU (1) picked up the other first-place votes. The Sooners (12-0) and Tigers (14-0) kept their undefeated seasons alive, while the Gators (18-1) posted a 5-0 mark on their trip to the state of Arizona. OU beat Tulsa and Wichita State at home, while LSU won all four of their home games against Penn State, Southern Miss (twice) and Nicholls. Third-ranked Florida earned road wins at Arizona State and RV Grand Canyon to go along with triumphs over Cal Baptist, New Mexico State and Iowa State.

UCLA held its No. 4 ranking after an impressive showing at the Mary Nutter with a 5-1 mark. Four of those wins came against ranked programs – then-No. 22 Missouri, then-No. 5 Tennessee, then-No. 10 Arkansas and then-No. 16 Nebraska – with the Bruins’ lone loss, a 1-0 defeat against new-No. 8 Duke.

The Blue Devils (13-3) enjoyed a 6-0 west coast trip, including a 5-0 mark at the Nutter. Along with UCLA, Duke knocked off Nebraska, Minnesota, Howard and BYU. Blue Devil pitchers recorded four shutouts and allowed just two runs during the trip.

Texas A&M moved into the No. 6 spot after it topped host and then-No. 8 Florida State twice (6-3 8 inn., 11-4) at the JoAnne Graf Classic, along with wins over Florida A&M (two) and Southeastern Louisiana University.

Tennessee, which lost both of its ranked matchups by one run to new-No. 14 Oregon and No. 4 UCLA, dropped to No. 7, while the Seminoles (11-3) slipped one position to No. 9.

No. 10 Georgia remained undefeated on the year with five more wins at home against Buffalo, Appalachian State, Utah Valley and Syracuse (two).

Previously-mentioned No. 14 Oregon made the biggest jump, as it catapulted five spots. The Ducks (5-0) have won 10 straight after a 5-0 Mary Nutter weekend, which included wins over Tennessee, Missouri and then-No. 25 San Diego State.

South Carolina, which is off to its best start since 1976 (20-0), moved inside the top 20 at No. 19. The Gamecocks (15-0), who have also set a new mark for their top NCAA start (12-0 in 1996), hit the road for the first time this season with a mid-week matchup tonight at Charlotte.

At 15-2, No. 25 Florida Atlantic makes its first appearance in the NFCA’s rankings since the 2017 preseason poll. The Owls (15-2) are off to their best start since 2017 when they were 16-1.
