LOUISVILLE, Ky. – By a mere two points, Oklahoma overtook Texas Tech for No. 1 in this week’s 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Sooners (40-4) and Red Raiders (40-3) each received 12 first-place votes, but OU finished two points clear at 747 to Texas Tech’s 745. Alabama, which collected the other seven first-place votes, remained in third with 734 points.
The Sooners, which were one of four programs to reach 40 wins last week, traveled to Austin and earned a pivotal SEC-series win over then-No. 4 Texas. OU blanked the Longhorns (33-6), 3-0, in the opener and secured the series with a 4-3 triumph in game two, highlighted by Kendall Wells' NCAA freshman record 31st home run. Texas, which fell a spot to No. 5, salvaged a victory in the finale, walking off OU, 8-6 in eight innings.
The Red Raiders saw their 14-game win streak snapped, but came out of Salt Lake City with a Big 12 series win over Utah with victories in games one and three. Texas Tech has now won 40 games in back-to-back seasons for just the second time in program history (2011-12).
The third-ranked Crimson Tide (39-3) cruised to four wins last week, including a three-game sweep of Auburn, their first over the Tigers since 2021. Alabama pitchers recorded three shutouts and allowed just one run and 12 hits over 25 innings.
No. 4 Florida (40-5) moved back into the top five following a convincing three-game sweep at RV South Carolina, along with a home win over USF.
Also moving up the poll are No. 6 Nebraska, No. 7 Tennessee and No. 9 UCLA, who went a combined 11-0, seven via a shutout. The Huskers (33-6) swept Wisconsin on the road with Tennessee and UCLA collecting four wins apiece last week. The Lady Vols thumped ETSU and Kennesaw State, while also shutting out Kentucky in the first two games of SEC action. The Bruins (37-5) continued to put up big numbers, scoring a total of 58 runs, edging Fullerton 13-11 and running through Illinois on the road (17-0, 10-2, 18-0).
Arkansas stayed put at No. 8, winning on the road at then-No. 13 Mississippi State and also wrapping up a series sweep of Auburn on April 6.
Florida State took the biggest hit in the rankings, dropping five positions to No. 10 after being swept on the road by new-No. 20 Stanford in ACC action. It snapped the Seminoles' (36-7) 25-game win streak and marked the first time FSU was swept in a three-game conference series since 2011 (North Carolina). The Cardinal were the biggest beneficiaries this week, moving up four spots.
Also taking a big hit this week was No. 16 Arizona, falling down four rungs on the ladder. The Wildcats (30-11) suffered three defeats last week, dropping the rubber game against Iowa State on April 6 and a non-conference series at then-No. 21 LSU.
Grand Canyon (41-4), the other 40-win program, moved up one position to No. 19.
