LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Wichita State’s CC Wong and Boston University Kasey Ricard were named 2024 Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week, respectively. The duo is being recognized for their outstanding performances for contests played March 18-24.
Wong hit .625 with four home runs, 11 RBI and five runs scored, leading the Shockers to a series sweep of UTSA. The graduate outfielder went 3-for-3, tied a Wichita State single-game record with three long balls, including a grand slam, and drove in a career-high six RBI in the series finale. Wong opened the series with a home run and four RBI. Over the three-game series, she reached base at a .700 clip and slugged 2.125.
Ricard, who is collecting her second honor of the season, posted a 4-0 mark with a 0.00 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 26 innings of work last week for the 25th-ranked Terriers. She scattered nine hits, issued six free passes and held her opponents to a .106 batting average. Key to the Patriot League sweep of Army West Point, Ricard tossed the final 19 innings of the series, which included a five-inning no-hitter in game two and a nine-inning shutout in the finale. In the no-hitter, she fanned nine batters and was a hit batter shy of a perfect game. Ricard’s nine-inning shutout with 14 strikeouts was the program’s longest shutout performance since 2017.
The Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week are voted on by the NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll Committee.
