LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oklahoma State’s Caroline Wang and Texas’ Estelle Czech secured 2024 Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors. The duo played pivotal roles in their teams Big 12 series wins over Houston and No. 1 Oklahoma, respectively.
Over four games last week, Wang hit .538 (7-for-13) with a pair of doubles, four home runs and 10 RBI. She slugged 1.615 and reached base at a .571 clip. Wang capped off a strong week with a monstrous outing in the Big 12 series finale at Houston, homering twice, driving in seven runs. With her three homers last week, Wang brought her season total to 15, a single-season program record for a Cowgirl catcher.
In two relief appearances against No. 1 Oklahoma’s explosive offense, Czech held the Sooners scoreless and did not issue a walk or an extra-base hit in six innings. She struck out three and hit one batter. Czech retired all eight batters she faced in the series opener and kept OU off the board for 3.1 innings (three hits, one hit batter) in the series clinching win on April 7.
The Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week are voted on by the NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll Committee.
