LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Riding a 31-game winning streak, Saint Leo ascended to No. 1 in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The red-hot Lions (36-2-1) achieved the program’s first-ever No. 1 ranking with 15-place votes and 399 points.
Saint Leo’s program-best win streak is the second longest active across in Division II and third longest across all three NCAA divisions. The Lions swept Florida Southern at home to stay undefeated in Sunshine State Conference play, extending their best league start to 21-0.
Pittsburg State, which has won 19 of its last 20 games, moved to No. 2 this week. The Gorillas (39-2) enjoyed a perfect 4-0 week, sweeping a pair of doubleheaders against Drury and on the road versus Northwest Missouri State and has won 19 of its last 20 games. The highlight of the weekend was Gorilla senior infielder Heather Arnett extending her hitting streak to 43 games, which included a last at-bat hit in game one versus the Bearcats.
Previous-No. 1 Cal State San Marcos dipped to No. 3 after it split a top-10 series at then-No. 8 Cal State East Bay. The Cougars (38-5) collected wins in games one and three, while the Pioneers (31-9) bounced back each day with game two and four triumphs.
Making a strong push this week was No. 4 University of Indianapolis, rising three spots to four. The Greyhounds (43-3) were one of two Division II programs to eclipse the 40-win mark last week. UIndy had a busy week, posting a 7-1 mark, which included three GLVC doubleheader sweeps, improving to 17-1 in conference action.
West Texas A&M and Auburn University at Montgomery remained at No. 5 and 6, following 3-1 and 4-1 weeks. The Lady Buffs (36-6) split at Cameron and swept a nationally-ranked doubleheader against then-No. 12 Oklahoma Christian (33-10).
No. 7 Colorado Christian (42-2) gained two more spots after another four-game RMAC sweep at Black Hills State to extend its NCAA-best active winning streak to 38 games.
Taking a tumble in the top 10 this week was No. 8 North Georgia (33-8), which fell five spots after it was upended on the road by Columbus State in Peach Belt Conference action, dropping games one and three.
No. 9 Cal State East Bay and No. 10 Southern Arkansas (37-5) round out the top 10.
Last week’s newcomer to the poll, UT Tyler improved three spots to No. 22, while Oklahoma Christian and Concordia each fell multiple positions to No. 15 and 25, respectively.
The 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee. The committee consists of 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the NCAA’s eight regions. The poll is announced every Tuesday at noon ET during the regular season. Records reflect games played through April 12.
