LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Charleston’s Hannah Rose and Adelphi’s Lindsey Hibbs were named NFCA’s Division II Louisville Slugger Player and Wilson Pitcher of the Week. The duo is being recognized for outstanding performances during contests played April 18-24.
Rose was a consistent threat at the plate leading Charleston to a 4-2 road mark in Mountain East Conference play. Over six games, she hit .714 (15-21), reached base at a .857 clip, registered four multi-hit contests and scored 11 runs. Rose added power numbers as well, slugging 1.381 with five doubles and three home runs. Additionally, she reached base safely in the first inning of all six games and scored five times. Rose recorded four-hit outings against West Virginia State and Davis and Elkins, scoring three times in each matchup. She also swiped three bases to set a single-season program record.
Earning her third weekly nod, Hibbs posted a 3-0 mark with a 0.28 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 24.2 innings of work. She twirled a pair of shutouts, issued just two free passes and held her opposition to a .097 batting average. Hibbs tossed a one-hit shutout with career-best 14 strikeouts and one walk at American International. The sophomore hurler blanked Pace on the road, holding the Setters to three hits, fanning 13 and walking none in a 4-0 victory. Hibbs sat down 14 more batters without a free pass in a two-hit complete-game outing versus Felician.
The Division II Player and Pitcher of the Week awards are voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee, which consists of two head coaches from each of the NCAA’s eight regions. To be eligible, student-athletes must be nominated by their member head coach.
