LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Meredith’s Lillie Davis and Saint Benedict’s Olivia Tautges captured the latest Division III Wilson/NFCA Pitcher and Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Davis pitched three one-hitters and had three games with no earned runs, while logging four conference victories in a five-win week for the Avenging Angels. The senior from Roxboro, N.C., who leads Division III in victories (18), struck out 33 and allowed just 14 hits over 32 innings in the circle. She also helped herself at the plate, going 5-for-16 (.313) with three runs, three doubles, a home run and seven RBI.
Tautges, meanwhile, hit .548 (17-for-31) with 11 runs, two doubles, a triple, four home runs, four walks and 14 RBI to spark the Bennies to seven wins in eight games, including six straight victories. The Brainert, Minn., product has hit a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-leading 12 homers, which ranks second nationally to Linfield’s Ashlyn Aven (16). The senior also set the school home run record over the weekend with the 31st of her career, and made just one error in 32 chances at shortstop.
