LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Ramapo’s Katie Rygiel and Belhaven’s Kennedy Carruth claimed the latest Division III Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors of the 2024 season on Tuesday.

Junior shortstop Rygiel hit .857 (12-for-14) in a 4-0 week for the newly-ranked Roadrunners, which included a doubleheader sweep of rival The College of New Jersey, in which she was 6-for-6 with a double, two RBI, three runs scored and two walks (one intentional). For the full week, the Hillborough, N.J., native totaled four doubles and seven RBI, scored five runs and compiled 1.143 slugging and .875 on-base averages.

Meanwhile, Carruth shined on both sides of the ball, pitching a no-hitter (10 strikeouts) against then-No. 12 Huntingdon and hitting two home runs and two doubles in a 6-for-16 week. The St. Francisville, La., native broke the school record for career strikeouts, fanning 28 over 25 innings, with one earned run, eight hits and five walks in the circle.
